Mark Danaher is the Founder of Careers by Design and serves as a Career Counselor and Internship Coordinator at Wethersfield High School in Connecticut. He helps professionals and educators create meaningful, sustainable success by aligning their work with who they are. Through his coaching, training, and speaking, Mark empowers others to reconnect with their strengths, values, and purpose so they can thrive both personally and professionally. With over 32 years in K–12 education as a career counselor, teacher, and coach, he brings a unique blend of classroom insight, real-world experience, and practical tools to help students and professionals design fulfilling and balanced careers.

A Past President of the National Career Development Association, Mark has been deeply involved in advancing the field of career development and counselor education. He has also served as a Board Trustee and as a member of the NCDA Training and Education Council, helping to guide professional standards and strengthen the association’s global impact. Mark is an NCDA Master Trainer for both the Facilitating Career Development (FCD) program and the School Career Development Advisor (SCDA) program. He has trained hundreds of practitioners and educators nationally and internationally and continues to develop materials that elevate career development practice and instruction around the world.

Mark blends evidence-based strategies with a mindful, human-centered approach to help others navigate transitions, prevent burnout, and build meaningful careers that fit who they are at every stage of life. His mission is to help people design work and lives grounded in clarity, alignment, and purpose.
