Training Programs

Facilitating Career Development (FCD) – training for current and future career practitioners in schools, public service, non-profits, private industry, and many more settings. FCD provides standards, training specifications, and credentialing opportunities for these career providers.

Career Practitioner Supervision - training in supervision for career counselors and other practitioners.

School Career Development Advisor  – Additional training program after FCD for K-12 practitioners in counseling and non-counseling roles. These advisors work with other staff to coordinate the design, implementation, and monitoring of school and community-based efforts to improve the chances of students entering the job market with skills, knowledge, and credentials to be competitive. 

Training programs are offered at a variety of times and locations:

FCD pre-scheduled courses are listed on the NCDA website and mostly offered according to individual instructors’ schedules.

FCD customized course offerings allow you to arrange a program time to meet your needs.

SCDA scheduled courses are listed on the NCDA website and mostly offered according to individual instructors' schedules.

Clinical Supervision is typically offered annually. Announcements will be made when applications are open.

Training programs are offered in 3 different formats:

Traditional — These courses meet face-to-face with the instructor for a minimum number of  classroom hours alongside homework done outside of class time.

Online — These courses are conducted virtually in scheduled class groups or individually with the instructor, with face-to-face instruction provided through online video conferencing services.

Hybrid — These courses are offered primarily online but may have predetermined dates or times that students will meet in-person with the instructor to gain the minimum of hours of face-to-face instruction.

FCD course schedules include a description of the format for that course. FCD courses are approximately 120 hours in length.

SCDA course schedules include a description of the format for that course. SCDA courses are approximately 40 hours in length.

Clinical Supervision requires 23 hours in-person over a 3-day period plus 22 additional hours of practicum work.
